I am starting my first Harry Potter book tomorrow.
I bought the Sorcerer's Stone and will be reading it on the plane tomorrow, most of the day, and while in Utah, during the down times. If I finish that one, my SIL manages a Barnes and Noble there, and can get me a steep discount on the next. So, I shall be posting about my first HP book upon my return! Take good care, all. I'm outta here!!!

Harry Potter Books Update
Thanks, Guys. I had a wonderful visit with my family and new grandaughter, and was sad to leave them, but am glad to be back. Thank goodness for free mobile to mobile service, as I have a feeling my daughter and I will be calling one another a LOT, now that Baylee Marie is here. As Sharrakor already knows (from being over at PTS last night when I was), I have already finished the first four HP books and am working on the fifth! I am thoroughly enjoying Rowling's style of writing. From the first moment I started reading the Sorcerer's Stone, I was HOOKED. Sean (American Fool) seems to have problems with the 5th and 6th books and what happens with Harry during that time, if I am reading his PTS posts correctly. I have just started Order of the Phoenix, and have no idea what direction this book is going to go so far, so I shall reserve judgement til afterwards. I could not believe how different The Goblet of Fire movie was from the book though. I really thought (though I loved the movie and own it) they left a lot of important stuff out of the book, when making the movie. I am pretty sure the Prisoner of Azkaban was the same way, but I was ill when I watched the movie, so I probably need to watch it again, before I can pinpoint some of the differences and stuff the movie left out. More to come on all of this. Who's up for some Movie-Book comparisons???

Darth sharrakor- 08-14-2006

*raises hand* I AM! I AM! I actually thought that Prisoner of Azkaban was much more accurate than the other 3 movies. Sorcerer's Stone seemed to be pretty accurate but after reading thru some wikipedia articles, I realised how different the movie was from the book.

I'd like to hear what you surmised upon reading the Wikipedia articles (re: Sorcerer's Stone movie/book differences). It's been so long since I've seen the movie, I'd have to see it again, unless you could jog my memory with what you've learned. Also, I really do think I am going to watch Prisoner of Azkaban again. I need to be able to recall more of the movie, before I can make an accurate comparison between it and the book. I have all my books around me now, so I can look stuff up easily, btw. I was curious about your comment that Azkaban stayed pretty close to the book, cause there were a few things I remember thinking 'I don't remember this in the movie' that I thought were important in the book... But again, I was ill and recovering from a hospital stay, when I tried to watch Azkaban. I will rent it soon and then comment on a few things.

Books five and six were mentioned in this thread? *Covers ears and runs.

Books five and six were mentioned in this thread? *Covers ears and runs. LOL!!!!!! You are TOO funny!!! ''Covers ears and runs''... Every the joker, AF! (Do I have to call you AF in here? You will always be Hobbes to me. )

Darth sharrakor- 08-30-2006

I dunno. I think that's an indication that AF has never read books 5 and 6. you slipped up, man! lol. I knew noone that had read books 5 and 6 could dislike them.

Lady Sugah Sim- 08-30-2006

Well, as you've already read in my other post, I really had a HARD time liking Order of the Phoenix, until I was almost half way through! I was going to agree with AF for awhile that it wasn't my fave book AT ALL, since it was so DARK and BROODING, and I wasn't crazy about the Harry Potter I was observing in that book. But again, it grew on me. It was your fave, S? Or ONE of your faves? I don't think it was my fave HP book. I thank GOD it isn't mandatory in this forum to have to PICK a fave HP book. I grew to love them ALL. AF, did you read all six so far? I'd like to know.

Darth sharrakor- 08-30-2006

IT IS MANDATORY TO PICK YOUR FAVORITE BOOK! IF YOU DON'T, THEN I WILL DO STUFF TO YOU LIKE...SCREAM IN 1337-SPEAK OR SOMETHING REALLY EVIL! -Evil Dictator, 2006. I agree with you that it started out bad, but later on it RULED! yeah, that's about it. I'm not sure which I voted for...

Lady Sugah Sim- 08-31-2006

Oh, Poo! I know your bark is worse than your bite, dear Sharrakor! You aren't going to force old Sugah to vote on which book I love best. Which book DID you vote for, btw????????

Darth sharrakor- 08-31-2006

Order of the Phoenix...just cuz of the last half tho. And the very beginning as well.

Lady Sugah Sim- 08-31-2006

Order of the Phoenix...just cuz of the last half tho. And the very beginning as well. Yes, the last half of the book definitely saved it for me. Agreed!
