Sorting Hat m'kay this is where you get sorted into your houses.
it seems only fitting to be put into your houses in the section where Harry and co. first got sorted...
just post any info you think is relevant to which house you would be sorted in. don't state you want to be any particular house or that you DO NOT wanna be in any particular house.
Also post how you approach the Sorting Hat
Ex: Bob approached the Sorting Hat with a strut of confidence. He knew where he was going, his pureblood family had been in the same house for centuries etc.
IMPORTANT: please include the month you were born in and the last digit of the year you were born in. Also the amount of letters in your full name, which includes middle.

S, it would help me a lot if you could give me the description of the houses. Otherwise, I wouldn't be following the rules by saying I want to be with Harry and his gang. lol
Would that be too much trouble?

oh umm...Gryffindor is the house of bravery, courage, and honor. A Gryffindor resembles a knight of Medieval Era in a way. Mascot is Lion for courage of a lion.
Slytherin is the house of cunning. Its mascot is the snake bcuz more Slytherins speak Parseltongue (snake language) than any other of the houses and Salazar Slytherin could speak Parseltongue too so...a Slytherin resembles a thief in a way...
Ravenclaw is the house of knowledge. Ruina Ravenclaw made the floor plan for Hogwarts. Its mascot is the raven for the search for knowledge. A Ravenclaw resembles a scholar.
Hufflepuff is the house that all the other wizards and witches go into. If you don't have bravery, cunning, or vast knowledge than I recommend Hufflepuff. its mascot is the badger.

Okay, if I am not following the rules here, forgive me. Let's see if I can answer this to your satisfaction, Head Master...
(Thank you for describing the houses, btw. That helped a LOT!)
The two things that are most important to me are honor and integrity. I am the kind of person, that when I tell you something, you never need question whether it is truth. I loathe deceit and have no tolerance for liars. I have been that way for all of my adult life.
I am not a particularly brave or courageous person, and often have a fear of the unknown. I am loyal and trustworthy, have a desire to learn new things (that are of interest to me), and have always been a good student. I am a naturally curious person, compassionate, extremely fair and all about what is right and just.
Oh, and I don't know if this matters, but you might recall I love all things fantasy and mystical: magic, dragons, enchantment, wizards, etc.
I was born in June, the last digit of the year I was born is 9, and the amount of letters in my full name (including my middle) is 15.
'Sugah approached the Sorting Hat tentatively, unsure of what the outcome would be. She had always considered herself a fair and just person of honor and integrity, dependable and responsible, intelligent and compassionate, from a good family. But how would the 'Sorting Hat' see her...'

ooc: very good Sugah. that was the kind of response I wanted to hear. it could use some work but it can't be expected to be perfect. that's about what I expected to be considered a good response. and I don't want anyone to make a great response, I do but...
\"I can tell you definitely don't belong in Slytherin child,\" the Sorting Hat said aloud. \"Gryffindor would fit with your character,\" the Sorting Hat pondered. \"But in times of need...Ravenclaw seems to fit your wit,\" the Sorting Hat chuckled at his own small rhyme. \"And yet Hufflepuff doesn't seem too unlikely,\" the Sorting Hat was silent for a whole minute and then said suddenly, \"HA!\" making all the second years sitting at the tables jump in their seats. \"I've made my decision.\" The Sorting Hat paused for a long 10 seconds just for the suspense and then announced, \"I know.\"
RAVENCLAW!
congratulations Sugah. you belong to
Darth sharrakor- 07-12-2006
As the Admin of the site I'd like to personally extend a hand to Sugah Sim and say congratulations for being the first person to be entered into a house.
Lady Sugah Sim- 07-12-2006
OMG! That was WAY cool, Lyle.
But now tell me, is that a good thing? To be a part of Ravenclaw? (I hope, I hope!!!)
What more can you share with me about it, or where can I read about it online? Do you know?
I wonder what helped to make the Sorting Hat's final decision (though I fit elsewhere also)? What was the determining factor, most of all?

The Sorting Hat is a mysterious device who reveals his secrets to noone. He does not speak of the reasons for his decisions often but he'll make an exception in your case. as for info on Ravenclaw...I'll look for some info on it in a bit...
Sorting Hat: ''The reason for making you a Ravenclaw is that you are a person where the saying, 'knowledge is power' actually comes into play. And you have much knowledge. You know the difference between wrong and right and there is not often any temptation whatsoever for you to choose wrongly which is something most Gryffindors would choose. You have no qualities of a Slytherin and you are not rounded out in your strengths and weaknesses like a Hufflepuff. Those are my reasons.''
and being a Ravenclaw is a good thing in my opinion by the way...
Lady Sugah Sim- 07-12-2006
Hey, that Sorting Hat is the BOMB, Man! I think that thing has got my number!
Thank you for making an exception for me. I was very interested to read what the Sorting Hat 'was thinking' during the decision process, and you explained it well.
I found this, HM. What do you think:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravenclaw
I'm gonna go read it now, so I can be educated, and will return in a few minutes.
No. You know what? It is a bunch of pages. I am going to print it all out and read it later, when I get a chance. There is a lot to read up on.
Darth sharrakor- 07-12-2006
I find that to probly be the most thorough explanation you're gonna get unless I spent a whole bunch of time typing stuff (which I'm not going to anytime soon) so just follow those guidelines when thinking of the houses and the sorting...
The Imperial Swordsman- 07-12-2006
Ok. i'll try.
Two things important to me are Thriftiness and Trust. I'm the kind of person that is almost always prepared for the upcoming, i am trustworthy; so i don't spread any lies or rumors that can be potientally dangerous or harmful to a persons reputation.
I am not brave, nor do i make the most intellegent decisions all the time. However i am a curtious person, and i'm very helpful to friends in need. I have even been referred to as a 'counsoler', but i am not. And if someone attempts to harm one of my friends, they'll wish they hadn't.
I was born in the month of December, and the last digit in the year i was born in is 8. The number of letters in my full name is 18.
'I approached the sorting had with nervousness, but with all of the confidence that it would put me in the house i belong. I hoped that the sorting hat would put me in a house that was full of adventure and excitement, but with no cruelty and despair.\"
Darth sharrakor- 07-12-2006
almost immediately the Sorting Hat announced,
\"Hufflepuff!\"
Congratulations TheImperialSwordsman. You are in:
The Imperial Swordsman- 07-12-2006
Woah. You read my mind. I had a feeling that's what i was going to be put in.
Darth sharrakor- 07-12-2006
Sorting Hat: ''I can tell when one wants to be put in a certain House of Hogwarts. This often affects my decision just like it did with Hermione Granger when she wanted to be in Gryffindor.''
sharrakor: this topic has been moved to the Harry Potter RP section for roleplaying purposes.
Darth sharrakor- 07-12-2006
BTW everyone, besides me being the headmaster of the school (forum) I'd like to say that besides playing that role, I will also play the role of a young first year just like yourselves...
